Meet the Doctor
Dr. Bettina Gary, O.D.
Dr. Bettina Gary is a dedicated optometrist with a passion for providing exceptional eye care and giving back to her community. She earned her Associate of Science from Spartanburg Methodist College before obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She then pursued her passion for vision science at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she earned both a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and her Doctorate of Optometry.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Gary demonstrated excellence, graduating with magna cum laude honors and serving as a Student Ambassador. She was also selected as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, a prestigious program that prepares students for graduate school and is known for academic excellence.

Dr. Gary’s journey to optometry began at an early age when she was diagnosed with poor vision at eight years old. Her passion for eye care was solidified during a high school school-to-work program, where she had the opportunity to work in an optometry office. This hands-on experience reinforced her desire to enter the field and provide the same level of care and support to others that she received as a child.

Her clinical training included an externship in primary care optometry at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia and an ocular disease externship at the Salisbury VA Hospital in North Carolina. These experiences have equipped her with extensive knowledge in diagnosing and managing a wide range of vision and eye health conditions.

Dr. Gary comes from a family that values community involvement and service, which has greatly influenced her approach to patient care. She is committed to ensuring every patient receives the highest level of attention and personalized treatment.

Outside of her profession, Dr. Gary enjoys spending time with her husband, Rodrick, and their two children, Jackson and Raegan. She loves traveling, new adventures, and checking off experiences from her bucket list—always looking forward to what’s next!
